The Wood Carvers Shop
As
you enter the shop on the right at the far end of the shop is a large display of
crib sets many of which are machine carved but on some sets Eric has been known
to add extras and even to make repairs. He can even supply the stable buildings
and many extras to build up some splendid scenes. You do not need to buy the
whole set at one time as they will keep a record of what pieces you have so that
when you return they will know what other pieces are left to complete the sets.
Before you get to the cribs you will find many carvings of religious figures and
also of historical figures like the watch keeper or the climber. There is also a
central display of toys all made from wood.
On the left of the door is the till area where Verona also completes any painting work required or maybe the piece needs to be waxed to help preserve it. Behind the counter and on the beam in front of the door can be seen some of the wooden masks that Eric makes for the guilds for Fasnet, each is made individually and is unique. Next to the counter is an area of religious pieces and also some fixtures and fittings for traditional rooms. At the back of the shop is Eric's workshop where all his tools are kept in good order in place on the wall.
There is a third member of the family who may be seen in the shop and that is Leone their daughter who just loves to play with customers.
