The Roter Platz
Most of the shops on the Roter Platz and the Seerstraβe had
created extra outlets by introducing a bar or fast food outlet near there shop.
These
were needed as the expected numbers just taking part in the Sunday parade was
nearly double the towns population! What with the decoration and the costumes
being warn the town was really colourful. This view from a balcony overlooking
the Roter Platz shows just how much extra has been added to the facilities of
the Town. The large structure
in
the foreground is a bar with other tents and stalls set up behind. Many of the
guilds seemed to be in Town all weekend whilst some did only come for the Suday
parade. The picture
shows the additional
drinking facilities placed outside Heidi's bar which
certainly helped to provide extra space for groups to congregate and you still
had to squeeze really tightly to get into Heidi's bar if you wanted too.
Both these pictures were taken before the main groups arrived in town
Just 1 hour later the place looked like this. yes that is still some snow on the
ground but it only provided some of the groups with material for use in the main
parades.
