Arrival of the first groups
Many of the groups arrived in the early afternoon by coaches and
by train all were in full costume when they arrived only the masks were carried
in bags or warn on the back of the heads to allow free use of the face for food
and drink.
It can be very difficult to tell the sex of a guild member once
they are in full costume so it is very dangerous to assume that all witches are
ladies and all pirates are men. The mask hides all.Guggermusik groups from
across the whole of Southern Germany, parts of Switzerland and Austria attended
the event on the Saturday there were 37 different Groups whilst on Sunday there
was 92!
Those groups which did not use masks had some fantastic face painting jobs regrettably I was unable to get a good photo of any.
