May Day Fair
2004
The weather this year
was not kind to the Rotary Club of Leighton-Linslade who organise this event for
the Town. Rain
which
was very heavy at times was the feature of the morning only brightening up after
lunch for about 2 hours.
The focus of the event
is the High Street which is closed for the day and lined with stalls
representing many local charities for whom this annual event has become a major
fund raising event. The west end of the High Street is taken up with a number of
Fun Fair rides for all ages and is a real magnet for the youngsters.
The east end
has the music
and
other group entertainment with The Heath Band performing along with other groups
.
The Church Square in front of the War memorial is also used with this year a small electric Go-Cart circuit and the All Saints Preservation Trust Christmas present stall.
There are also a few horses shown in the square.

The final location for
attractions is the Town Centre Park where again there are
attractions and
demonstrations such as the
falconry
show
and the Canoe Club fitness tests. Unfortunately as a result of the rain the
skate board competition could not take place and this will now happen latter in
the year.
