At the Western End of the high Street is Church Square that leads to All Saints Parish church one of the oldest building in the area and one that is in daily use by the community. Today the grounds have been taken over by a band of Saxons who have set up camp for the event. They are all in costume and are undertaking the normal duties of a day including repairing the tent and cooking food. The men of the group practice their hand to hand combat skills with axes, swords and spears.Inside the Church there are a number of Groups who have put on exhibitions covering The medieval history of the area and displays of finds that have been made in our area at Archaeological digs and by various metal detecting systems. There was also various groups of musicians who again appeared in costume playing replica instruments from the age including pipes, drums and a stringed instrument  called a hudygurdy that consisted of 7 strings and a wheel that rubbed against the strings it sounded a little like bagpipes meets a violin but very melodic when joined by drums and pipes or a harp. These musicians wandered all around the town putting on short demonstrations.
