Held in the theatre of Cedars Upper School this free concert is also part of the annual arrangement between the two bands. The Heath Band, as the hosts began the concert with 4 very different pieces of music. Beginning with Punchinello by W Rimmer we were then taken through part of Vaughan Williams English Folk Songs Suite before crossing the Atlantic for the overture to Mack and Mabel from the show by Jerry Herman. The Bands final piece returned to Europe and memories of the Red Army Choir with Kalinka some Russian folk music. The L'Accordéon Club de la Brie then took over for the rest of the show and really demonstrated just how versatile the Accordion can be.

The 4 pieces played before the interval we "symphonie" from Te Deum by Michael Richard Delalande, Bekannt und Beliebt, a tribute to Dvorak and Smetana, La Paranda very South American samba type music and finally Schalom an arrangement of Jewish folk songs. After the interval the French really let rip beginning with a violin solo by their president  who was accompanied by 6 accordions in place of the original instrument intended by J S Bach the harpsichord. We then had two pieces arrange by Hans-Günther Kölz the first Roccata followed by the Aria from the third Sonata by Handel. Then to a piece by Bill Woodie called Néoules. Ennio Morricone wa a member of the band who wrote many pieces for them, including special twinning pieces for both bands to play together, tonight we had a selection of his swing tunes. On then to Birdland by Josef Zawinui and Kilkenny Rhapsody by Kees Viak finishing up with Just for fun again from the pen of Hans-Günther Kölz.A very mixed and interesting programme that the audience thoroughly enjoyed and we now look forward to hearing the bands again in the future.
