The Paddock Arena

With 3 different Morris Men groups performs in the heat of the arena this was certainly an area that needed to be cooler than it was. Most visitors did manage to find some relief from the sun in the Beer tent or one of the many craft tents put up around the area area.

could almost be a village green.

   

The Three groups of Morris dancers came from very different backgrounds The St Albans Morris Men having been performing for over 70 years dancing mainly in the Cotswold style. The English Miscellany Folk Dance Group perform a wide range of dances in various costume including clog dancing from the Northern mill towns of Lancashire. The Bedfordshire Lace Ladies Morris team are named after the traditional and very important Bedfordshire industry of lace making, before machines took it all away. They dance mainly 20th Century collection.
